I can not decide on a MMORPG...?

I am torn between: EverQuest 2 Lineage 2 Guild Wars World of Warcraft My main 'sell points' are Community, Quest System, Character Customization, and Game Play... I do not mind level grinding as long as it is fun and you do things like quests and get better equipment on the way up... Any suggestions?

  1. Personally I recommend: Real Life Offline I hear they're coming out with an expansion pack...
  2. of the ones you mention I've played all of them except for Lineage 2. Up till now, nothing is better than World of Warcraft. At least in my oppinion.
  3. I would refrain playing any games that has a tendency to have a sequel, as it means the recent one you're playing is outdated (ie EverQuest). Blizzard made a very good job of doing World of Warcraft that it's likely to be around in a few more years even if many of the games are now PS3/Xbox-style in graphics. So if you want a MMORG that has a long-life span, go for World of Warcraft. Final Fantasy 11 is also a good alternative
  4. World of Warcraft is the best. However if you don't want to pay a monthly fee Guild wars is a good alternative.
  5. I'm going to reccomend a different game - Dark Age of Camelot. Your main sell points are community, quest system, character customization and gameplay. I will break them down for DAoC, as I've played it for over 3 years and have some inkling by now. :-P Community: In DAoC, there are quite a few servers to choose from (about 14 or so), including regular servers, roleplaying servers, pve server, and pvp server. You shouldn't have a problem finding people to group with, and finding some nice people. You are put into a starter guild at creation that all other players of your realm are put into as well, and you can talk to them, ask questions, etc. Quest system: There is a huge variety of quests in DAoC, like most any RPG. While some are not that exciting, some are actually quite cool, especially later in the game. Character customization: DAoC shines pretty well here. Your customization options at the beginning of your character are race, hair color, face, and height. You also can put 30 points into a few stats of your choice, depending on the class you pick. Once you choose have a class, and you level, you earn specialization points that you can use on any of your class's specializations. There is a pretty wide variety of specs to choose from, and depending on how many points you get (it varies from class to class), you can customize your spec to make it your own pretty well. Very few specs are completely unviable in the game. Gameplay: Not very complicated, although considering it is a nearly 5 year old game, you might have trouble learning everything at first. There are tutorials available, and you can also just ask people. The community of players in your realm/server is a great resource that you should never forget about when learning the game. The level grind in DAoC can get boring sometimes, but it can also be quite a lot of fun. The main selling point of DAoC is its "Realm vs Realm" combat. There are 3 realms in DAoC - When you pick a server, you are forced to pick a realm to play on. You can only contact people in your realm. To fight enemies from other realms, you have to go to specific zones. At lower levels (before the max level), you can opt to go to the "Battlegrounds", which let you fight with enemies near your level. It's a very fun way to level up, and gain some realm points, which are earned by killing enemies from another realm, and are used for earning special abilities that are very useful. And once you reach the maximum level, there is still stuff you can do to customize your character further and make him or her stronger. You can do these "Champion Levels"... You can earn 5 champion levels to use on subclass abilities - By subclass, I mean earn abilities that are from another class. IE, you could be a fighter with some magic spells that you normally couldn't get. And there are also "Master Levels" which require big raids that can be entertaining, although sometimes a bit boring, but you earn some really awesome abilities that prove extremely useful in the battlefield. I know that's way more information than you probably wanted to read about the game at first glance, but I highly reccomend the game. It is an awesome MMORPG, and definitely one of the best ones out there, in my opinion.
