Is playing in a private server for Lineage 2 illegal?

I definitely know that creating your own private server is illegal. Just want to know that playing in a private is illegal too.

I find it quite ironic that one of the biggest miscreants/cheaters at this site says something is illegal (in his answer) ;why can't he see that his actions here are illegal?
